Fueled by hard work and optimism, Flint Optical was opened in 1965 by Julie Pejakovich. Her hard work paid off and Julie was debt-free in 10.5 years. She celebrated by having a mortgage-burning party. Three years later, she moved the business to its current location at 518 S. Saginaw, the former site of the Schiappacasse Candy Store. Julie loved Flint and so do we! We take great pride in serving downtown Flint and are committed to providing high quality patient care and service for all Flint’s eye health and eyewear needs.
New owner, William Pierce, ABOC, revitalized the optical in 2007 with new frame and lens styles. He strives to continue the tradition of excellence previously established by Julie. As always, we are dedicated to ensuring that patients are comfortable and completely satisfied.
Dr. Francis “Frank” Stone has been a staff optometrist for 35 years. He uses his considerable experience to provide excellent primary eye care to his patients. He attended Genesee High School, Albion College, and the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University. Upon graduation in 1985 he began working full time as an Optometry Doctor. In his spare time he enjoys singing in his church choir, volunteering at the Community Garden, and running. He has run in the Crim Festival of Races for 30 years!
Dr. Rose Purdy has been practicing since 2015, when she began her residency training in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation. She specializes in primary eye care, as well as, vision-related learning problems, young children, special populations, strabismus, amblyopia, convergence insufficiency, and brain injury. She attended Durand High School, the University of Michigan-Flint, and the Illinois College of Optometry. In her spare time she enjoys landscaping, house projects, reading, and time with her partner and two daughters.
